If you mean "morale":
Bosses need to encourage employees' career development and let us stretch our wings and learn and grow.
Bosses need to be fair to all the employees. Favoritism is a big no-no.
They should avoid talking down to us or behaving like dictators. It doesn't hurt to ask OUR advice sometimes, or when possible let a group process make important decisions.
Good health insurance and generous sick leave/vacation policies help, too.

The lines of communication have to be established between the workers and management on a level where both feel that they can "depend" on the others .... A worker that knows they have respect from management and some leverage for the things that they encounter within the work envoirnment as well as in their personal life (needs for time off etc) will usually be ready to go beyond the call of duty on the job !! And, management that knows they have a dedicated workforce in place are much more likely to give latitudes to the workers on such things as comp time and added benefits !! A nurtured ---TEAM spirit is the core of great moral !!!

Say what you mean and mean what you say. Don't say one thing one day and then change the rules the next day. Be focused and recognize what works for your workers and what doesn't. Don't let a good thing that a worker does go unappreciated. Let them know they are doing a good job and reward them. When business is going well, give them a raise, not the old, You're doing such a good job, you get to keep it.

"The firings will continue until morale improves!"
Recognize employees contributions, treat them fairly and with respect, pay them well, don't micromanage, involve them in decisions, keep them up to date on how the company is doing, never criticize in public, but praise in front of everyone, throw in a few special perks now and then :)

That gains when you put first your testimony, and by all means puntuality, respect, honesty, and comradeship. Everything depends on one same one.
