Is that while the dog is inside and the people walking by outside?
When the dog barks, let him know he has done his job and alerted you to the danger. Look out the window and tell him shush.
If he barks at people while you are walking him on leash, teach him to pay attention to you. Dogs usually bark that way out of fear, lack of socialization. If you teach your dog you are the leader, and good leaders protect the ones the lead, he will learn to look to you for directions.
Try taking him to a class so he can learn how to pay attention to you when people are around, in a safe, controlled environment.

If you find out how let me know. My dogs have had a lot of training with a professional trainer but they still bark at people who come close to our house. It's because they are protecting us. I like that idea but it's still annoying.

by a collar that gives them a little shock (it won't hurt them) and it will keep them from barking but I would only put it on when you dont want them to bark. Remember a dogs bark good be a good thing sometimes to scare people off

usually dogs do bark especially at their own house..if you want to train them not to you have to start when the;re young,,,,like they says you can't teach older dogs new tricks,,,,,,,,LOL

Try spraying it with a water bottle. This will keep it quiet because it is almost like putting a kid on punishment so he/she could learn its lesson and not do it again

Thats what dogs are supposed to do. just make sure he doesn't bite anyone you don't want him to.

roll up a newspaper and whack him. Get his mind off it by teaching him to sit or something when people are around and give him a treat if he does good
