a friend and i are getting our noses pierced together over spring break, but i'm worried about what kind of nose ring will be put in. i don't like the ring look on me, and i want a small sparkly stud, do they put those in initially for you? i just don't want to be stuck with a metal ball stud like i've seen some other with because i want mine to be some what descrete and cute :)

whatever you do, PLEASE do not get your nostril pierced with a gun.
you should go to a reputable tattoo/piercing parlor and get it done with a hollow needle and coordinating jewelry.
when i got me nose pierced, my piercer gave me the option of choosing my jewelry, which was a 16ga nose screw with a clear gem.
your piercer should be able to recommend the jewelry that he thinks is best for healing and wear.
just remember to take care of it properly to reduce the risk of infections.

Whenever you are thinking about getting a new piercing, you need to do research on it. Find a reputable piercer and do not let them pierce with a gun. Make sure they use autoclaved needles and change their gloves often. Typically, you will be allowed to pick out your jewelry. I would suggest a nose screw, and yes, you can get something "sparkly" and "cute" for your initial piercing. I would NOT recommend a BCR (ball closure ring) because they move around a lot and might irritate the piercing. A micro labret would also be a smart choice. If you do get your nose pierced, remember to do sea salt soaks and don't touch the piercing too often! Good luck.

when you get your nose pierced at most places you can choose from a ring or a nostril screw - which is the type that is sparkly a nostril screw is bent in different directions to properly fit your nose.

One question I have for you - on spring break are you planning to go in the ocean or a pool??? if so you are going to have to make sure you rinse your piercing with saline or whatever solution you choose to use every time you get out of the water.

I think the stud type is very cute....good luck and have fun on spring break

You do not have to be pierced with a ring (aka a CBR). A nose screw can be used and is typically what most females request anyway.

Just be sure that the jewelry you choose is something you are okay having in your nostril for about 3 months because thats how long you have to leave it in place while it heals. Good luck.

When I had mine first pierced they used a normal ear piercing stud. I had to wait about 6 weeks until I was allowed to change it

1st and foremost - NEVER get pierced with a gun. They can't be taken apart, cleaned and sterilised properly. Alway go to a reputable piercer who uses new needles everythime. You pay for quality!!
Most body piercer's will let you choose your own jewelry but might recommend something above others. Initially it's best to get a ring because they're easier to clean. You can get a cute little sparkly thing later but you're priority for the first 4-6 weeks will be hygiene and maintenance otherwise you'll get a big green infection in your nose. Ugly and painful!!! email me if you have any more questions :-)

It certainly depends on the piercing, my piercer used a 18g screw with a clear gem. Unfortunately he would only use something with a large end, so no chance of the skin growing over it. Ugly, but necessary. Other piercers actually have very thin gold hoops where one end feeds into the other end. Nice, but not something I like.

When I had mine done they did it with a gun and a big fat stud earring like kids have. I was not allowed to change it for ages and it fell out overnight and closed up in a few hours and I had to have it re-done. The lining of the nose rather than the outside seems to heal over very quickly. Beware though - it is incredibly painful! Supposedly they are better to do it with a needle as the gun causes a lot of trauma to the nose. The whole side of my face hurt for ages afterwards!

Why are people giving me the thumbs down for this answer?!

nostril piercing, that's least extreme on you by way of fact your face is basically too harmless searching for each little thing else. yet you have a dewy wonderful seem and it might upload a superb touch so nostril for specific.
