We need to greatly reduce our use. But we can't do it immediately, it will take a lot of time and money.

Why?

Fossil fuels are getting much more expensive.

The market for oil is controlled by unstable countries, some of whom are unfriendly to the West.

Global warming.

It's really a no brainer. It makes sense economically, for national security, and for the environment. The only reason to keep using them is because that's the way we've always done it. Not good enough.

I think the U.S. should stop using fossil fuels. When we use fosil fuels it creates the bi-product Co2 which is one of the elements that cause global warming. Instead we should use electricity, hydrogen fuel cells, and Solar power. Not only will we be saving the environment will be cutting are addiction to fossil fuels, and we won't run out of solar power, electricity, or hydrogen for a long time.

The use of fossel is not the problem it is said to be. Fossel fuel is the most practical energy sourse for small scale use which is where most energy is used. The problem everyone is saying is caused by using follel fuel is really an engineering problem. Poor engineering is the cause of CO2 emissions and that can be fixed. CO2 can be also removed from the atmosphere and this can be done fairly easy.
