I have 3 grandchildren, ages 14, 8, and 6, who are my daughter's children. I am a relatively young grandmother, and I LOVE it. I am definitely looking forward to having more grandchildren, although it might be awhile before I have any more because my sons aren't quite ready to start families yet. Having grandkids is great because the pressures of parenthood are gone. You don't have to make the big decisions in their lives, their parents do. My job as grandma is just to love them unconditionally, and make life as much fun as possible when they're with me, or visiting at my house. It's a great privilege, and everyone should be so lucky.

Yes and no,I have children aged 21,16,6 and 5. Although I would love to be someones Grandma one day I am not in the right mindset for it now.Because I have had my family in two batches so to speak,I don't want to be Grandma to my older kids children while I am still raising the younger ones.I would like a break from babies so that when my grandchildren do come I can have the time to enjoy them properly.Selfish aren't I?

I am. But on the other hand when I think of grandparetns it is sad for me. My mom loves her grandkids and I can't let them be close to her. Her religious beliefs and her ideals in life make her honestly beleive that I am going to hell and raising my kids all wrong. So although my mom can be very loving, when I think of being a grandparent, I feel excited, followed immediatley by sadness for my mom missing out and I know she wants to be close to my kids so badly. But I have to refuse guilt. I am doing best. But yes, I am looking forward to being a grandparent, but it is a mixed thought for me right now. I hope my kids don't move far away from me with their kids, lol

NOOOOOOOOOOOO

None of my adult children are ready for kids.
I just got the last one of her own this fall and don't feel like having a baby dropped on me while their parents run foot loose and free after work to parties, Nascar races and sporting events.

I hope it will be a few yrs yet, but yes, it would be nice to have a baby that we can pass back to the parents when it needs a nappy change ect

Can't wait - we'll have a common enemy after all.

I also want to remind my son of all the things he said about parents, e,g "When I'm a daddy, I'll be a good daddy. I'll let my children have whatever they want".

I have mixed feelings about this, Yes for my daughter cos she will make a good mother. No for my sons, cos they will want me to babysit while they go out drinking. One of my sons wants to join the police, so I think babies will go on hold for him.

i have 9 grand-children and it is great, as i work full time i only see them at week-ends so on a Friday i get all my housework done and washing then my shopping so i have all week-end to visit them unless they visit me first lol, i also tell them i will baby sit on a Friday night but a Saturday belongs to me and hubby so i don`t babysit apart from Fridays and i still have the week-end to myself xx
