Although I hardly have thought of it, I do have supper on occasion. I asked an elderly friend who told me that supper is a meal usually consumed closer to bedtime. It can be simple, like bread and cheese or soup or a two vege and meat sort of thing. The larger meal is the equal of dinner.

We don't have supper Monday to Friday as we don't have our evening meal until 7 pm, but Saturday and Sunday is different, we eat earlier so generally have a bit of supper, generally a couple of slices of toast, we thought we were missing out big time as kids if we got no supper and if you got sent to bed without it for been naughty then it was like the end of the world doing without your supper.

Curious is right.
I live in WV and here (and other southern states I've visited), the word supper is interchangable with the word dinner.
Either way, most of the families I know still have a sit down meal together in the evenings. My husband and I do and it's just the two of us.

It's probably because few families sit down to an evening meal together now so they end up snacking all night leaving no requirement or appetite for supper.

My mother made supper. We had a mid-day meal, high tea and then, before going to bed, something light, cheese on toast, mushrooms on toast or crumpets. Don't know why. I choose not to eat breakfast or lunch. I normally eat my main meal around 5.30 in the evening and that's it. But I live alone, if I invite friends round we eat later, 70 30 to 8.00 p.m.

We always have had three main meals during the day: Breakfast, Lunch, and Supper. We consider a big get-together with our extended family to be "Family Dinner" whether it is at Lunch or Supper.
So, yes, we have supper......together.....every night

Yes, I have that and I call it supper. My son and his partner have their main meal in the early evening and call that Supper, very confusing for my 2 year old (almost) grandson. If he's at home, he has supper in the evening, if he stays with me,he has dinner in the evening.

Supper is what older people from the deep south say in place of dinner...same meal, just two different words. I've never said supper, but my grandparents do.

Since i've come to uni I have been quite confused as everyone is from different parts of thewe country. I just call it dinner for my evening meal. Then people start saying I've had my tea so i'll have my supper later. Whats that all about?

I do, we dont really call it supper but its a pre bedtime snack type thing!
I usually have a slice of toast or a bowl of cereal. I enjoy it so much as its the only meal I get to eat without the kids and i can realx and enjoy it!
