Have her put her money into a savings account and let it draw interest for her. The problem is a huge one, and while I applaud her interests, there are better things for her to do with her money. Her mommy can lead the way by refusing to buy products that come from those trees being cut down. It might put a little more work in her life, but if she is truly serious, then pointing out the economics of not buying products that come from sources doing things we don't like will do more for her than putting her money where it isn't going to do all that much good.

Her allowance may not amount to much. Better teach her to plant trees in your neighbourhood or in places where there are less trees. This will keep her busy and give her hands on experience in planting and growing more trees. then when she grows up she can actually be a part of the group that tackles the deforestration issues with action instead of sucking in donations and doing nothing.
Who knows she may actually enjoy the experience.

I lived in Ecuador for 12 years and worked in the jungle. It was difficult to keep the roads open, they get 100 in. rain per year. I have Sean fence post sprout and grow into trees. The only thing in danger down there is Man.

One way to remedy this is to take her out of the mind-dumbing schools that are indoctrinating our kids with this ridiculous enviro-wacko propaganda. Have her give her allowance to pro-life groups instead...you know...to benefit PEOPLE?

Keep funding these Greenies and you'll continue to keep Third World people in the Dark Ages of poverty and disease.

suggest you sign her up to worldwide fund for nature, they have a section for kids, I am sure, plus loads of hands on projects for youngsters to do, she sounds great and forward thinking, the more she learns, the more she will tell her friends, soon there will be a little band of eco warriors not just saving the rainforests but the world!
