Have you met a Christian that you liked? Have you met one that you just couldn't stand? Why?

I'm an atheist, and most of my friends are either Christians, or theists in one form or another. Rarely is religion an issue for us.

I've met a lot of Christians that I don't like, also. But I've also met atheists and Jews that I don't like, and their beliefs had nothing to do with it.

I'm pretty much an equal-opportunity misanthrope.

I have never met a christian that i have never liked, in general they are nice people, but they are very deluded, and really only the weak minded would listen to what they have to say on god and stuff, i had a relationship with a Christan at a former workplace and although he was the nicest person i met, he was totally crazy( a screw loose as we say) and the thing i liked about him was the fact that you could wind him up so much that a normal person would snap, but no not him, and even he admitted that he only preached to people that were of a weak mind I.E drug abuser's, lonely children,

It's simple - For the most part, Christians will do anything necessary to make you feel uncomfortable about not believing in God. They'll keep pushing it, even when you tell them that you don't want to hear it - Then they'll go off and tell their Christian buddies that you worship to devil... So.. WTF.

They also have this horrible idea that in order to go "heaven", you'd have to be a Christian, and sit through church every Sunday, when you could be doing something better. If that's the case, then heaven is not for me.

Take my GF's dad, for example. He says that she wears black, so she happens to "worship the devil". It's funny how she doesn't even believe in the devil, or god. He still makes her go to church, even though he knows she doesn't believe in it. I don't think he knows the fact that she never will, but I guess he will soon enough.

The fact is, Christian parents have the false idea that they can make their children be Christians. This is utterly ridiculous, and not true at all. All they can do is expose their children to it, but the choice is up to them. This is why I hate MOST Christians.

There are some good ones that just keep it to themselves. Those are the good ones.

I have met plenty of Christians in my life. Some very nice, some disgraceful. But that is not a judgment on them as Christians simply as human beings. As with all faiths there are good and bad as with no faith at all there are good and bad. I dont have a problem with Christians at all, there is no reason for me too. I know many and have family members who are. I am a Muslim and have no hatred towards Christians at all.

My mother is a home carer looking after the elderly in there own homes. There was this one client she had a lovely polish man who was wheel chair bound due to the russians shooting him in his knee caps. He was in a very sad state when my mum started looking after him. His carer before would put him in the shower and throw buckets of cold water over him, he was not fed properly and many other things i wont go into. He had no family in this country and his only visitors where a married couple from the church. They only ever visited him to get money from him. The wife would take say £100 to buy him clothes and they would all be from second hand shops and not worth more than £20 collectively. They never complained to anyone when he was recieveing this poor quality care. They only visited him to take donations for the church which was say once every three months. They never took him out a walk, they never brought him a cake or a packet of biscuts, they never stayed longer than it took to take money from him and leave. My mother and her friend took great care of him and they grew to love each other he was so grateful for the kind and respectful care he recienved. My daughter would draw pictures for him and they made his week, he never took them down from his walls. He got very sick and was put into hospital and sadly died there. My mother and her friend would sit with him in the hospital day after day. My mother, myself and my daughter visit his grave take him flowers. At hospital the christian couple never came at his funeral they only came to see if there was anything left to them. I know this is not the practice of all christians but i am telling you this because i want to give an expamle of what i stated above. Just because someone calls themself a christian does not make them a good person and vise a vera. This experience does not make me paint all christians with the same brush. I know they are not all like these people there are some very generous, very caring ones too.

I've met lots of Christians I have liked. Met quite a few I wanted to kick in the teeth as well. I don't hate all Christians, far from it. What I do hate are those who use their faith as an excuse to be bigoted and close minded, and those who want to turn that faith into laws that will oppress those who are not of their faith. That goes for any religion.

I have met some Christians that I don't like. But then again I have met some Atheists and others who I don't like. I have met Christians who i like as well as Atheists and others that I like. So I am fair in my assessment when it comes to dealing with people. I have family members and friends who are Christians and Atheists or whatever else they are I get along just fine with them. To me it has nothing to do with the person's religious or non religious beliefs as much as it has to do with a person's personality. I tend to get along better with people who are open minded regarless of what religion or non religion they are.

1. Because the extremist psychos give them a bad name.
2. Many. Like my dad...
3. Yes, they harassed me when I was walking into a shopping mall. He made sure to be very loud about it, too... I ended up making him look like an idiot, though after he couldn't get through ANY questions I asked very loudly...

I don't hate Christians. I will never claim to. I hate people who take their personal beliefs and try to force them on me. Like anti drug people, anti smoking people, people who think all loud music is satanic, lifers, fundies, right wingers, ultra liberals, animal rights activists (yes, them too!) and sports fans who drag me to countless beer guzzling parties where the only source of entertainment is a television and some alcohol... I even hate people who agree with me on my beliefs and try to force those on others.

they will say because thier bible says they will be. Its a cop out response and a lie, there is far more to it than that simpleminded answer, the reason is because they provoke non christians, by saying things like at least im going to heaven, so i can laugh at you while you burn in hell, or Your religion is false, my Jesus is what you should believe in, they say snide, hateful things and expect the other person to turn the other cheeck, so they can attack them some more, but its only natural to retaliate once youve been attacked. Also, christians want thier beliefs to be the law of the land, and not everyone likes the idea of having to worship the christian God, and pray to the christian God, because the christians in charge like the idea.
