♥ Can't we all just get along? I'm feeling like a jerk lately. As an atheist/agnostic (I believe in a universal energy but I choose not to call it "God" and I agree that I may be proven wrong) I have made a choice in regard to my faith. No one is going to change it. I believe it's much the same for Christians, Muslims, Jews, Wiccans, Pagans, etc. Is there actually a way to find peace amongst ourselves without preaching to one another? I'm hoping a little regression therapy will reteach us all to share and converse without insulting and to accept and respect one another's beliefs. I know I've been more than guilty of it, and I'd like that to change. The in-fighting is getting a bit fanatical. ♥

For "": I don't mean accepting and respecting others beliefs if they are harmful; very simply, I mean speaking one's truth without becoming hateful or demeaning. If one's truth is to condemn others for behavior that is not harming anyone else (homosexuality, etc.) then, no, I haven't any desire to respect that 'truth'.

I don't think it's possible to "accept and respect" everyone else's beliefs. I would never accept some beliefs I have seen written on here. Nor respect some. Tolerate would be a better word as I that I might be able to do in most cases. I agree I wish we could converse without insulting each other.
As far as changing beliefs, many do change or grow in what they believe and that's what this forum is about---learning about other's beliefs to see if we can accept them into our own belief system.

Excellent observation. As a Christian who does know and believe the truth about God, I choose not to treat atheists and agnostics the way some of them treat me and respond out of bitterness and hatred in a rude manner. Each person here makes their own choice in how they respond. Change the motivation of the choice and you'll change the climate of the R&S section.
