Can dogs see their reflection, and in color?

I have a chihuhua and everytime i put her up to a mirror she looks away, like she cant see her self.

my dog tried to go behind the mirror looking for other dog maybe yours is jelous that you are holding another dog and cant bear to look lol

I know they can see their reflection. My neighbors dog sees himself in the window or in water, and barks at himself thinking he's another dog! I believe dogs see in color, but would have to look it up to verify it. Some dogs just really are not interested because their reflection is not a real dog and has no smell.

Dogs can see their reflection. When i first got my puppy he would always fight with the dog in the mirror, then he learned that it wasnt really a dog.

Dogs cant see in colour though. Just black and white.

Probably your dog just isn't interested in the mirror or herself.
Once I did the same thing with my dog~he's a pomeranian!~and he looked away too! Maybe dogs don't get those kinds of stuff.
Also, I think dogs only see in black or white.

Yes, your Chi can definitely see itself.. it may want to not "confront" the other animal it's looking at though! As another said on this post - they say dogs can only see in black and white, but I don't believe it either.. Too many things happen to make me believe otherwise..

dogs definitely can see a reflection. I snuck up on my dog and he was watching my in the mirror. he even started growling and went up to the mirror to "see who it was" that was coming at him. It was funny!!

yes dogs can see their reflection, when my Puppy saw her's she freaked out! It was really funny. Dogs are color blind to some colors, and others are harded to see.

dogs can see themselves....scientists say they see in black and white but i dont believe them...
