I've going to serve my remainder of time in active duty. I will have 7 years in by then. What I want to know can I get a contract to switch over to reserve once I'm done? Also, is it the same with reserves as active where I can do 20 years or do I have to do more? Can I get my choice on where i want to go? Or am I still going to needs of the army? I would like to go to Jacksonville FL and I'm an 88M (Truck driver.) thanks for the comments on the last post though. kat

YES on switching over to the reserves after your active duty is done, YES on serving 20 years in the reserves as you would on active duty, As far as I know, you can request your duty assignment to wherever you want to be.
Best thing to do is talk to your 1st Sgt and he/she would be more than happy to point you in the right direction. Also talk to your unit career counselor about doing this. Good Luck and Godspeed in your career with the US ARMY! US ARMY(RET) 21 years

then when you get closer to your EAOS, start the paperwork.

there will have be a need for your MOS at the drilling location you want to go, otherwise, you won't be be able to go there.
