You should be ok with XP but Vista needs a pretty beefy computer to run well. If you have a good graphics card and 1gig or more of RAM then you should be able to run Vista. I know the minimum requirements for vista are only 512k of RAM but I never recommend running a program at bare minimum.

No, your computer is fine and you can upgrade to XP without problems.

DO NOT get Vista!!!!!!! Wait at least 6 months before you even think of using Vista.

I have the same problem. I was told by the Geek Squad that I would need an upgrade in both memory and processor. Pricewise I would be better off getting a whole new system. So guess what I'm doing with my tax refund?

Probably. Vista will definately need a higher spec computer, XP you might be able to install but because your computer is old it will probably be quite slow.

If you have 256MB or more memory, you don't need to buy new computer to upgrade to XP.

For Vista, you need to buy A new computer, with at least 1GB memory, multi core processor, and high-end graphics card.
