Your husband and yourself should come up with a plan ahead of time for visitation. Maybe you can go to a specific park at a specific time once a week and allow him to play with her while you run errands or things like that. If you can trust him not to try to steal her, I would say this is the best solution. This way you are not allowing him to penetrate into your home life and he will have all of the time with Mimi that he needs and you won't have to worry.

A friend of mine was in your situation once. She decided not to let her ex see the dog. The two of them could not be in the room together without fighting. This caused the dog to be in a stressful situation which is not healthy (or so I hear from Cesar Millan). She found that the dog hardly noticed that the family situation changed. Dogs are pretty versatile if they have support through the changes.

no dont allow him to visit it will just confuse the dog just like it would a child. just move on and the dog will adjust.

As long as he isn't abusive to you or the dog it should be ok for him to visit.

Please don't be petty about the dog. If you both love her, let him see her. It's time to try and move on.
