Are hydrocodone and oxycodone of the same potency? Please see details. . .?

Question

In other words, do 10 mg Vicodin = 10 mg percocet? (not counting any additional non-narcotic meds that may be in the tabs, such as Paracetamol/Tylenol or acetylsalycilic acid)

If they are not....Which is the stronger of the two?

vicodin v. percocet to me would not be apples v. oranges. apples v. oranges would be more like an anxiolytic v. an opioid analgesic.....

first and formost disregard advise on the FENT patch. That is just crazy, fent is one of the strongest painkiler , addiction is rapid your tolerance will sky rocket, withdrawl/kick is worst then with herion. fent cut herion has caused many deaths in the past year. Your doc will never move you from hydro to fent and probadly label you as a drug seeker for asking. think ron c is smokoing too many of his patches.
oxy is about 25% stronger than hydro- 7.5mmg oxy=10mg hydro. keep your tolerance low stick with hydro. once your tolerance increases nothing will ever be the same- be safe

Hydrocodone is slightly less potent that Oxycodone. And they have the same half-life unless the Oxycodone is take in Oxycontin which lasts 12 hours. Percocet is supposed to be about 1.5 times stronger than Vicodin. For me, Oxycodone works MUCH better than Hydrocodone, but every person is different. You can take it as often as every 4 hours.

No, because they are two totally different drugs. Kinda like comparing apples/oranges.

As for the anology, both apples and oranges are fruits, but they are 2 totally different fruits. In the same fact, oxycodone and hydrocodone are both painkillers, but 2 totally different painkillers.

You simply cannot compair the two they way you want. There are no equivilances between strengths and drugs.

Percocet is the stronger of the two since oxycodone is a stronger narcotic than hydrocodone.

One last thing, hydrocodone and oxycodone are NOT the same drug as was mentioned. Neither of them are morphine either. Hydrocodone can be found in some cough medicines, but it is not a 'liquid version' of oxycodone.

No they are not the same. Oxycodone is stronger than Hydrocodone. In the US Oxycodone is a schedule II drug, what used to be a triplicate. Hydrocodone can be prescribed on a regular prescription an some cases over the phone.

Regarding equivalencies:

You can;t really equate them because of 1/2 life issues. Oxy lasts a lot longer.

But no--- 5 Mg of Hydrocodone (5 of hydrocodone, and 500 Tylenol)
would be a weaker dose than 1 of oxy.

Hydrocodone and oxycodone are the same ..they are all from the opiote familly and are all a form of morphine..if you take a percocet ..wich is 5mlg of oxycodone and 325 mlg of acetaminophen"tylenol same thing" Hydrocodone is a liquid form of oxycodone usuall prescribed for people who have a bad cough resulting in pain or headache.Pecocet/Percodan/Endocet are all short lasting and Oxycontin/Vicodin/Dilaudid and others fall into the long lasting catagory..Oxycontin and Vicodin are also synthetic and are know as hillbilly heroin. very addictive and as far as i'm concerned no good can come from taking these medications..If you suffer from cronich pain i would suggest you talk to your doctor about Fentanyl Patch..it's like a stop smoking patch you put on and it lasts three days and comes in different dosage from 25microgrammes to 100 mcrg..and atleat your not popping pills and getting addicted.
