How do you tell if a parakeet is male or female?

Buy one dinner. If it puts out it is a girl and if it doesn't it's a boy =P

Get a book on Parakeets and see how they say to distinguish a male or female. You could also go to your vet and ask them what they say. If all else fails it helps to make an educated guess

Birds have noses that are called ceres above there beaks. If the color ranges from white, pink, very light purple, or a light type of color then it it a girl. If it has a blue or dark puple then you can say its a boy. Otherwise, go to the vet for more information.

to tell how a pararkeet is a female or male is that a girl parakeet has a pink - brown or some sort of light color right above his/hers beaks........ and the male will have Dark brown and fushie or most have blueish

You can tell by the color of it. If it is a male it is more of a pretty color or a pastel color. And if it is a female than the feathers are more darker, like an navy blue or something like green.

look at the nose.....if it has a blue dark or light.....it's a male. If the nose looks like regular skin, it's a female.

males hav either purple, pink, or blue ceres(noses). females have beige/brown ceres. they are especially brown when ready to mate. hope this helps! oh, and babies have pinkish whitish nosies.
