Sometimes their anal glands can be impacted. This is itchy and uncomfortable. Maybe thats what it is.

I'm not sure why so many people associate "scooting" with worms, because this is very rarely the case. Scooting is most often associated with plugged anal glands. Both cats and dogs have small glands located at about 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock around the anus. When the animal defecates, small amounts of fluid are normally secreted into the feces. Sometimes these glands get plugged up. The glands continue to produce the foul-smelling fluid, but the ducts are blocked preventing its secretion. This can cause discomfort and possibly infection.
Since your cat is only doing this 3 times a year, I doubt it is anything to worry about. The scooting may be all the relief she needs. If it starts to occur more often, then a trip to the veterinary clinic may be in order to have her glands checked out.

I hope your vet knows what he or she is doing when he does a check up because it sure sounds like worms to me! And the fact that it's only certain times of the year indicates in my mind that something is wrong. Maybe she's getting into some kind of plant outside that only blooms during those 3 times a year. I hope she's not in pain but it is funny when you see a cat or dog scutching their behind along the floor isn't it?!

verify to work out if that area of the floor is heat. now and returned a pipe from the boiler to, say, a towel radiator makes in basic terms a splash the floor heat. They love an incredible heat little bit of floor to sleep on & are extremely good at looking those spots.

It really depends. Sometimes it because the anal gland are full and it hurts. I had a cat who did it and it was because she had worms ( the little rice ones that you can see coming out of the anus). It that's the case just get some de-wormer.
Sometimes it's because their constipated.

Our cats do this. It's an internal problem with ours and they're not getting enough moisture in their diet. We have to feed them wet food that comes with a gravy, then we add a lot of water to it. Stir it around till it's a soup of sorts and that is what they get once a day. Also, make sure your cat has fresh water at all times.

Is she spayed? Almost sounds like she's in heat. My female was fixed at like four months and she seems to have some "mini heats" where she gets super affectionate but doesn't do the howling. Maybe it's something like that?

Yes, I have one cat that does this, not very nice when company's over. She is so fussy she will not step in the litter box, but perch on the rim, some cats are just that way, who knows why, they're cats. Chow
