I have to take out some "huge" amounts for school and get an apartment......In both their going to check my credit, so which inquiry will have less impact on me getting approved for the other?

Get the student loan first. They are WAY more picky than apartments are. You may even need to get a co-signer for student loans. The best thing to do is keep your debt to income ratio low (don't charge up the credit cards). A student loan doesn't necessarily look bad on your credit, regardless of amount. Most lenders realize that a person with a degree can potentially make more money.

You should apply for the loan first, simply because without the loan you couldn't pay for the appartment. Also it's alot easier to get an appartment then a huge student loan
