It's actually a cultural thing... in the US, the left ring finger is traditional. This tradition in based on the (incorrect) theory that there was a vein that went from this finger to the heart. However, in some countries such as Greece, India and Chile it's traditional to wear it on the right hand. This stems in part from the traditional negative connotation the left side has.

In the US the engagement ring is worn on your left hand, in Europe and other parts of the world they were it on their right hand.

In the US once you get married the engagement ring and marriage band move to your right hand

It depends on your faith tradition or ethnic origin.
Some Europeans and people of the Eastern Orthodox faith wear their ring on their right hand. Americans wear it on the left.

depends on where you live. In Egypt you have it on on your Ring finger...next to your pinky( of course you know which finger it is :p)... and in the wediing its custom that you you slide the ring from the right hand to the left hand without taking it off... you have both of your hands facing eachother and you have both your hands touching @ the tips then you slide it all the way through:) good luck

In America its the left ring finger.. the one in between the pinky and middle..In most places of Europe its customary to wear the engagement on the right hand ring finger. When you get married there it then switches over.. like the turnin the tassle during graduation

It depends where you live. In Anglophone countries both types of rings are worn on your left ringfinger; in Germany the engagement ring goes there, but the wedding ring goes to your righthand ringfinger; that's as far as tradition goes. Nowadays, people don't take that all that seriously.

the ring finger on the left hand...the finger next to your pinky--both men and women use the ring finger.
