I had my cat since she was 4 weeks old so she doesn't remember being around her littermates at all. She is a fairly aggressive cat. I have to play gently with her. She has never been around any other cats and is an indoor cat only. She is spayed, and the new kitten I'm getting from a rescue is neutered male about 6 months old who seems a lot calmer. I was looking for advice on introducing them to each other. I expect my cat to go nuts at first. I was thinking of leaving the kitten in the carrier in the apt. until my cat seems to adjust to him by smelling him through the carrier.

you have to leave a door in between them and they an smell each others scents threw the bottom of the door. or do it the mean way and just let them stick it out. (Wrong way to do though) if the other one is only 4 wks old that is good. they may not have a problem. just watch them, at first they may be aggressive, after 24 hrs it should be good. if you do the door thing watch your carpet because they may claw it.

ya that was what I was going to suggest to you.

I would try the carrier first but observe closely how they do. if they are fine with each other (no aggression) then let them still sniff out each other while the kitten is in the carrier. after a while try to hold the kitten and let your cat come to you. (cats are naturally curious and will most likely come to you.) and then see how they do. if there is any aggression towards each other then just give it some time and then try is again later. always supervise them and never leave them unattended in the same room. at least until you think that they are going to be fine together.

Tough call - keep them apart - newby in carrier for two days then switch let newby have the run for a couple of days. Separate litter pans is a must - preferably in separate rooms. Separate food dishes too! She will try to kill him unless she is in heat. She will adjust, especially if she learns that if she doesn't behave she must go in the carrier. You are right ! she will go nuts at first for many reasons, jealousy, territory control, and strangeness to name a few.

faith, you have taken on a huge job. before everything you have a clawed prince and you will introduce him to a "senior" declawed achievable princess. i could introduce them VERY slowly and don't flow away them unattended. in line with danger in case you have 2 great carry circumstances you may for the 1st assembly place them head to head with the doors closed. i'm valuable you're turning out to be many "hissy suits" and it wil take rather some time to have them get use to a minimum of one yet another. you may could save them in separate rooms notwithstanding this could basically lengthen the getting mutually technique. They probably will eventualy TOLARATE one yet another, turning out to be BFF's, no longer lots. basically be patcient and save attempting. they could fool you and prefer each and each others enterprise. do no longer anticipate too lots formerly each thing. good success!

Here's a fantastic article that explains, step-by-step, the best way to integrate kittens and cats. (It sounds like a lot of work, but it usually goes quite swiftly and is absolutely worth it - better to invest some effort in the beginning than having to put up with squabbles for years.)
