can i call the jail to talk to my fiance to release the keys to his car to me?

You will not be able to call and talk to your fiance. You can call and talk to someone at the jail about the procedure for having property released. If you go there, they may be able to get him to sign a release on the spot and give you your keys. Procedures vary from jail to jail though so you should call.

You can try as long as the police haven't seized the car to perform their investigation. Calling the jail might raise a red flag - why do you want the keys to his car. What else could your fiance be hiding or what could you be hiding or etc....

Allow me to play devil's advocate - your fiance's car has drugs hidden elsewhere. The police obtained a warrant seizing the car and the car keys in order to perform their search for drugs.

You may call the jail but, you may not talk to him at all on the phone. You must go to the jail personally and have him sign a property release form and wait until they get good and ready to get them for you. Hope your a looker, otherwise you better have alot of patience. One more thing, If you have any warrants or think you might have DON"T GO, they WILL arrest you!.

you cannot talk to him directly. But they should let him sign a release of property and then let you pick up the keys. You may want to write to him directly so that he can talk to a CO since they are not always reliable and you have a backup in case they won't help you. If you have an emergency they should help.
