I have a lot of people on my yahoo messenger friends list, many of which I haven't spoken in like half a year. I want to remove them, but I'd also like them to remove me from their lists. How can I phrase this nicely, so that they won't get too offended by my message? There's no point in having them on my list, even if we're both online we don't talk to eachother!

I would not even politely ask them. No worries, if you delete them and want to be deleted, you might be better off just blocking the person. If it appears to them that you are never online, they're likely to delete you.
If you ask politely, you risk offending people. I went about doing the same thing that you did just a few months ago. I started asking people to remove me and noticed that it only got people upset and frustrated, even when I explained that we never talk. I took the remaining half of my buddy list that I didn't want, and just blocked them. I had a few of those people talking to me once in conversation, and they said, "Wow, you're NEVER online anymore! Eventually, I just deleted you... I hope you don't mind!" And there weren't any hard feelings... So that's what I'd do!

I agree..don't ask to be removed, just block them and ignore them if they get through.

Sometimes our silence speaks much louder than words and it can be an easier and certainly quieter way to let everybody off the hook. Yourself included.

I wouldn't worry about it.... just delete them. They probably don't remember who you are anyway and will never send you a message. If they do and you choose to answer it, do it. If they keep sending junk on group distribution lists just block them :)

You dont need to say anything to them.... You simply block them from your side. They won't ever know that and you will be calm without them . It happens to me from time to time...and even I dont remember who they are or where from they are........so I block them directly.
Even,,,,it is better that to tell them that you dont want them in chat anymore. Dont you think so?
