okay..so obviously i have depression. i'm taking anti-depressants and i USED TO cut myself. I DONT DO IT ANYMORE. there are scars on my wrists and arms and i am covering them with makeup now to hide my past. I am labeled "emo" or "goth" at school and i dont really care but now that i dont cut anymore i'm tryin to get rid of the emo label. *emo is considered a kid that is obsessed with darkness, writes about death and pain, and wears their hair a certain way and in some cases they cut themselves* the only reason people label me emo is because i cut myself, used to. anyway. how can i convince people that i'm not emo anymore? * and i'm in therapy now and i'm doing very well* oh and i'd appreciate it if you guyz dont lecture me about not cutting myself anymore cuz i dont do it anymore. i've been clean for about 2months now. i'm done. thanks.

sweetie i am doing a song and dance for you because you are getting better.
now don't pay attn to those stupid people in school that try to label you. people only label others because they are too lazy to get to know others at a less superficial level. those kinds of people are superficial and u dont need to be dealng with them. u will find this is also true in real life. stay away from them. but if uhave to deal with them and they want to label you..so be it..thats their problem. YOU know who u are.
you are strong. now do well and focus in school. sooner than you know it you'll be in college and u will look back and think, why you spent so much time stressing over stupid people.

I used to suffer from severe depression. At age 14, I started taking Prozac for it... I took it for about 2 years.. But nothing seemed to be helping at all. For a long period of time I was attempting suicide habitually (thank god I failed). Anyways... Anti-depressants generally make the problem worse.

I wouldnt worry about the whole "emo"/"goth" thing at school. You don't really have to convince anybody, as long as you aren't too focused on it... Actions speak louder than words.

If you are still dealing with the depression, I would reccomend that you stop taking the anti-depressants... There are a few things that I did to stop it in its tracks. Since my family could not afford medical insurance... I read a lot about "Cognitive Therapy"... Which labels depression as a mix of 3 things: a 'mental filter', twisted thinking pattern, and certain nutritional deficiencies.

Try taking a vitamin B complex and Omega-3 fish oil every day.

The best way to avoid slipping into a depression is, once you get the first sign of irrational thinking or melancholy, ignore it completely and focus on things that you really want. What you give attention to, you attract into your life!

Thats really all I can think of... But aside from not being depressed in the first place, wear long sleeve shirts. :)

Sounds like you are doing everything right.....keep up the good work.

People can be cruel sometimes, if you can just overlook what they are saying and doing it will probably stop on it's own. The ones that are saying this stuff are the ones that have a problem.

Just look after yourself, you are on the right path. Congratulations on your accomplishments......

okay so here's what i think - why are you bothered about what people think of you ? be happy with yourself, you wanna wear black then wear it. your getting your life back on track, stuff everyone else. i know how you feel. i cut, took drugs and drank - i've been labled a junkie cuz of the drugs. but i don't care what people think cus i've stopped messing around. what's important is people you love and you loving yourself. x

Smile. Wear different colors.

But to be truly honest, it shouldn't matter how other people label you. Those who stereotype will continue to do so no matter what. Just be yourself (easier said than done, but it's good advice).

I think you should just be yourself. I used to have issues as well and people are quick to judge but just blow it off. You know who you are and your true friends do as well. The ones that pick on you just don't understand you. Keep up the good work and just be yourself, don't worry about what they think. :)

Try smiling and showing your smile to everyone, try wearing your hair back (In a pony tail or in bobby pins if it's short), and wearing bright pretty colors...
