Is there anywhere I can play DVDs on my computer without buying the programs?

Like, a free download or something? I want to be able to play DVDs on the computer, but for some reason, my DVD drive won't let me. Is there any reason for this, and is there anywhere I can download the programs to read the DVDs?

Try Open DVD, a free (open source) software DVD player from sourceforge.
