Peter calls him “Mark my son,” perhaps indicating the strong bond of Christian affection that existed between them. (1 Peter 5:13.)

Mark proved himself in the ministry and became a valuable help to the apostles Peter and Paul. Mark was with Paul (c. 60-61 C.E.) during his first imprisonment in Rome. (Philemon 1) Then we find Mark with Peter in Babylon between the years 62 and 64 C.E. (1 Peter 5:13.)

Peter was an eyewitness of practically all that Mark recorded, so he could have learned from Peter many descriptive points that are lacking in the other Gospels.

Mark was a disciple of Peter and the writer of the Gospel book of Mark. He was a like a son to Peter very close association in his teachings...Peter treated him like a son in his life...that's why as you read the book of Mark there is some of Peters influence in such. We use such expressions today with young ones not your flesh and blood.
Peace......

It is widely accepted that Peter was instrumental in the Salvation of Mark. As Paul referred to Timothy as "my son in the faith".

Peter led Mark to the Lord. It was just a term of endearment about one of his children in the faith. In his letters, the Apostle John addresses the readers as his children. Again, just a term of fond affection.

Paul did the same with Timothy... 1Tim 1:2 Timothy, I am sending you this letter. You are my true son in the faith. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy and peace.

Peter is thought to have given Mark the information which was compiled in his Gospel.

Both of these indicate a close teacher-student relationship.

It is not Mark, but Marcus, his son. Peter was married and had children

My Bible says Marcus. Obviously not St. Mark as you may presume.

I agree with Chris P. I think you are looking too much into this. He could have just been older ect. I think he's right, term of endearment.

Why did Harry Potter see his father's image in The Goblet of Fire?

Yeah, let's sit around and deeply ponder the "what ifs" and "whys" of fictional mythological fairy tales, and how they deeply affect our lives... And then, let's tell everyone how smart we are.

YAY!!
