why I cannot get the fire wall icon to go away so i can run limewire?

You have to set your firewall to allow it, then it should work just fine.

you need to go into your firewall settings and allow limewire full access to the internet, otherwise you wont be able to connect....
your firewall will block it until you tell it to give limewire full access
