I found a cat outside 2 weeks ago and I really want to keep it. My mom said we could as long as no one asked about a missing cat. But if no one has asked for it yet, will they ever????
I hope not.

WE've already taken it to a vet and he's fine. Surprising because he's been out in the snow for a while. We found him around Valentine's Day so we named him Tino(Valentino) Kind of corny but oh well. I've seen no flyers and he has never ran away when we tryed to let him go. He really likes us.

Its been 2 weeks prolly not. If a person doesnt post up posters or ads in the newspaper looking for their cat AND the cat has no coller then they prolly didnt miss their cat very much. I found a cat 2 years ago with no coller no ads looking for her or posters and she decided to live with us. I let her back outside and she kept coming back here so we adopted her. Make sure mom takes your cat to vet to make sure she is not sick and is healthy. If your cat is going to be outside and inside cat both the cat will need his/her shots to make sure other animals outside will not get him sick. :) congrats on your new cat! have u decided a name?

Did you advertise that you found it and search the ads for a lost cat meeting that description? Did you call around to vet offices, shelters, animal control, and pet shops in the area to see if anyone posted an ad looking for it?
Every time I put collars on my cats they find a way to take them off, so don't use that as the sole means of deciding whether it had an owner. Take it to the vet to have it checked - it may have a radio ID chip implanted so that it can be identified and returned to the owner. Also have it checked to determine if it's healthy.

It would probably be ok if you keep the cat...If someone comes around asking I'd give it back. Until then, you have a new cat..lol If noone has asked in 2 weeks, it's not likely they will. There are alot of stray animals, that one just got lucky and found you for a moma...

There are plenty of cats in the world. You should look for the owner and give them back if they belong to someone else. If the owner claims them you will have the satisfaction of reuniting them with their owners and can always adopt other cats from a shelter.
If you've had them for 2 weeks, they may have been dumped and are now yours. But you should do everything you can to find the owner in case the cats just ran off.
How would you like it if your cats ran away and someone else took them without trying to contact the you?

it might be nice of you to go put signs around about a found cat. But don't give the description when the people call have them describe the cat for you so that you know they are telling the truth I know you really want to keep it but what if it belongs to a little boy or girl who are really missing it. It's not really fair to them.

You could put a few posters round the neighbourhood saying you found a cat, don't give away too many details though and if someone does come along be sure they are the real owner. You could take him/her to the vet to see if they have a microchip too. (you'll have to take them to the vet for vaccinations, spay/neuter anyway)

Well it could be a stray, you could call the shelter and find out if any cat has been lost with its description. But there is a lot of strays so if it doesn' thave a collar get it one.. then it will look like it belongs to you.

they probably won't. if it doesn't have a collar then there's not much you can do for trying to return it to the owner (if it ever had one). make sure you take it to the vet asap though because you never know what kind of stuff a stray cat has. get it it's shots and have it spayed/neutered

you could post signs. Have you taken it to the vet yet? Many times the have an idea if it was an outdoor cat or well cared for.
Hope you get to keep it if you like it so much

keep it. it most likely doesn't have a home if no signs are posted and no one has asked. get it to the vet soon for shots, and don't let it roam free or someone else might get it, or worse, get hit by a car or attacked by another animal.
