Sweeteners are extremely unhealthy if they contain aspartame! Aspartame harms your brain, i am not kidding.
Buy Natreen or Splenda sweeteners, they're OK.
Unfortunately they also put aspartame in everything "light", I don't understand why they just don't sweeten it instead. Like fruit juice drinks.

Sweeteners are perfectly healthy.
The reason artificial sweeteners (like Aspartame) have gotten a bad name is because there were some studies done when they first came out where researchers gave lab rats doses and doses of a sweetener that was thousands of times more sweetener than you would probably use in your whole life, all in a short time span. The big secret to this is that, in ridiculous, excessive doses like that, ANYTHING is harmful and a carcinogen.
Basically, a sweetener is made of molecules of a substance that can bind to the same receptors sugars do, which sends a signal to your brain that you are tasting something sweet. The difference is that your body can use the sugars as fuel, but cannot use the artificial sweeteners as fuel. So they have no energy content (calories).
It's great that you are concerned about your health and the use of artificial sweeteners is a good choice to help you limit your intake of sugars and calories.

From what i have heard, Sucralose (splenda, i think) is the only artificial sweetener "generally regarded as safe".
Otherwise, as someone has already mentioned, there is a natural plant extract called Stevia, which is calorie free. Japan and SE Asia use it as their staple suger-alternative sweetener, and after around 30 years of use, it doesnt seem to have any ill effects.
Otherwise, try and find a honey which is lower in calories or perhaps a fruit sugar.

Most sugar-free sweeteners, like Splenda, are pretty bad for you if you have too much. I would recommend all-natural sweeteners. One kind of natural sweetener is called Stevia, and it tastes exactly like sugar, but basically there's no calories or anything and it's extracted from a plant. Stevia tastes a bit bitter if you have too much of it by itself, but other than that it tastes fine.

I don't think they are healthy, just go cold turkey or just have just a little sugar, sugar is so much more natural, sweeteners contain chemicals.

Sweetners that contain Aspartame are extremely unhealthy!!
Splenda does not contain Aspartame and tastes OK, you get used to it very quickly and although it looks expensive to buy, you don't need as much of it.
