When I joined the Navy in the early eighties, you had to make certain scores to get certain jobs. There were alot of Recruiters promising jobs to people that just did not have the scores for them as such there was alot of angry people. During week four of basic they had us re-take the ASVAB and then during week six we got to choose based on our scores then. Even then there were many people who failed out of A school for one job or another and had to do something else.

You have to test for jobs. If you score too low on the tests you will not get the job you want. Go to military.com and that will help you with the ASVAB. Many take the ASVAB and the Navy and Air Force are beyond their reach. In the Air Force if you do not pick a job you will be given a job in which your scores will closely match. My niece went open General and is a paralegal. She was very lucky, but she tested very high and didn't want to wait for an electronics job.

learn to use punctuation. it will help make your posts easier to understand.

ALL Branches offer you guaranteed training. nobody guratentees the job itself.. you have to pass the school as well as meet all the other standards rewquired, such as normal color vision or abilitiy to gaina Clearance.

if you want to go boots on the ground, go Army or Marines. That gets you a 100% chance of going. The other branches, while there ARE people over there, they are mainly limited to SeaBees and MAs in the navy(although there are plenty of exceptions to this rule with the advent of the IA program).
