As most true celebrities don't want to be seen, there isn't any place as there would be in say LA. But, if you headed to the Meat Packing area, or way over in Chelsea, the new in Chic place who knows. I did see Liam Neeson in a Starbucks picking up coffee in the west 60's. Of course there is Fairway, which is a food store where you can run into Stiller & Meara and Kelsey Grammer. But, I think the only true "hang out" would have to still be Elaine's on 2nd ave around 90th.

Meatpacking District restaurants such as Pastis, Buddakan, are Spice Market are extremely popular with celebrities, Nobu is always a popular. Celebrities also hang out at many of the priciest restaurants in the city, Be prepared to spend A LOT of $$$$ at all of these places.

Believe it or not the meat packing district down near 14th Street has become very trendy of late. You can usually find someone @ Hogs & Heiffers on Washington/13 street.
Also the Times Square area gets a few visitors and the Village is another spot where you can get glimpses of some celebrities.
