The chain was weak.
Why are you chaining you rottie?
I have read so many places not to chain your rottie as they tend to become over aggressive.

A puppy should not have been on a chain unsupervised. That is how they become mean. You probably had a week chain, Or like a pit bull I had once would jump in circles and twist the chain until it weekend and then it would snap, no matter what type of chain it was. Best thing to do is not chain your puppy. If you have to never leave it on the chain unsupervised. And never leave it on the chain for more than a few hours at a time.

I don't think there is such a thing as to strong. My Rotti broke her collar when she was young chasing after a cat. Go figure. Rottweilers are know to have strong necks. You might want to look into good dog training. Once my dog was trained she no longer pulled while walking and understands who is Alpha Dog in our pack. While she could pull my arm right out of it's socket if she wanted to she does not. She is now 12 yrs old and the best dog ever!

Yes he was probably too strong for the chain, when you buy a new one, get a sturdy one, they have them for different sizes and pounds of dogs. That way the chain will be stronger then the dog.

Get a bigger chain or fence in your yard because he/she will only get bigger and stronger. Did you know nothing of these types of dogs beofre you got him/her?
They get big and yes very strong. You cant make him/her stay little forever so invest in a fence because chained up dogs are not always the happiest creatures.

It all depends on the size of the chain and how old he is. And if he is a baby then most likely he is strong and will become stronger.

Putting dogs on chains is cruel and it makes them aggressive and mean. You could be making a very dangerous animal that could hurt you or someone in the family. I would stop the practice immediately before someone is hurt or killed.

Did it break like as in snapp or he just go out of his collar.
If it snapped it means you have one strong dog. Why was he trying that hard to get off his chain? Hes a baby too? That seem impossible to do. I think your chain might be like plastic.......
