I would be very careful flushing even a small amount of litter. Most of it will expand and stay in the pipes and it's pretty expensive to clean out.

I'm not sure about the litter that is supposed to be safe to flush. A lot of products claim to be safe to flush. Most plumbers will disagree.

I use cheap non clumping litter and put the litter box inside a large trash bag (you can get a large roll from the hardware store). ... putting the litter on top of the plastic trash bag. when they poop I pull off the bag inside out and dump it. its faster than messing with scooping. it also means the litter is more hygenic if the cat steps on your face in the night (it happens). Also, i usually put a newspaper in the box before putting it inside the plastic bag incase they claw the bag and it leaks a little. I used to live in an apartment and dumped everything down the toilet and the main drain got blocked...was never sure if it was me.

Most cat litters are NOT flushable. In fact, in many states, there are either existing laws or laws waiting to be passed to make flushing cat litter down the toilet illegal. (In California, I know that you can be fined for doing so). By flushing your cat litter down the toilet, you are increasing fecal coliform levels and making it more likely that animals in the water will become sick (seals and sea otters, for example, can grow extremely sick from eating cat litter, more so than human feces). In addition, many flushable cat litters have been outlawed as well. The best bet is simply to use a trash can, not the toilet for your cat's litter!!! Hope this helps!!!

You absolutely should not do this! Funny story about great revenge -- I didn't do this, but BOY did I laugh. It did happen to an ex-boyfriend. His ex-girlfriend poured clumping litter into every one of his toilets. Toilets had to be replaced. Plumbing fixed. Major mess. Still not entirely sure what he did to her to deserve it. But I do think of the gal every once in a while and send her an attagirl!

(Actually, you should not use clumping litter anyway. Sure, it is convenient for us; however, cats get litter in their feet and lick their paws....then the clumping litter clumps. Problems ensue. Sure, it doesn't happen to everyone, but still!)

Only use the ones that are flush able. Most clumping ones would not be flush able and will clog up your sewer.

i've got tried all of them. And the desirable possible is one like a DuraScoop. that's a super steel extensive-bowl scoop with a rubber wrapped cope with. Makes existence lots less complicated. *you may get under the clumps extremely easily and that they gained't ruin up and leave bits and products at the back of. * It won't bend nomatter what - rather in case you have super super clumps or extra urine that gets caught to the edges and backside of the field. * it is going to p.c.. up extra "stuff" in one swoop particularly than 3-4. * It will never ruin. you are able to bang it on the ingredient of the field to get off sticky bits with out hassle * It would not harm your hand for the period of "not basic" jobs. super delicate. - in basic terms be carefull of knock offs - like the PetCo sort - 'reason with affordable copies the rubber wrap would not stay placed and twists on your hand once you are attempting to scoop- making it virtually impossible and intensely aggravating to apply. So attempt it out in the previous you purchase it and make effective that the rubber cope with would not slide returned and forth or flow around. right here's a link to the kind of scoop I recommend: it is going to value you approximately $10- $15 funds. well worth each and every cent. playstation - do not order one on line at first - considering which you will not be able to verify the cope with in the previous you purchase it. attempt one out at a puppy grant shop.

It depends on the kind of system you have in your home. If you are connected to a public waste system it should not be a problem. Just add it in small quantity and allow time between flushes. Keep a toilet plunger nearby in case of "over-load". Check the brand for recommendations before doing anything though.

I would not flush that, I would scoop place in a plastic bag and toss out the plastic bag. I think flushing it will harm your toilet also you never know what that does to the sewer system.

You have to find a brand that lets you do that. Not all litters are safe to flush. so you need to look around. This one is at petco put it in the search box and there are other kinds.
