Your all wrong - the only reason why we eat 3 meals on Shabbos is because that is what G-d asked us to do to celebrate the day. We are supposed to eat "Shalosh Seudos" hebrew for 3 meals.

Thats it!

God told us to be a holy people and to keep the Sabbath holy. As in nearly everything else in the Bible, He didn't say exactly how to do that so rabbis have formulated plans on how we as a holy people can keep His 613 commandments. It's one of hundreds (thousands?) of ways we remind ourselves of what God wants us to do. Judaism is a religion of action, not belief. We don't ask why God commanded us to..........., because questioning would lead us to question whether following His commandments is really necessary. We accepted the Torah by saying "We will do, then we will hear." When other nations were offered the Torah, they asked to "hear" first, and then declined the offer.

How do you keep the Sabbath holy? Or is that not one of your commandments?

Regardless of faith or religion, most occasions worthy of celebration involve food. It's more a cultural influence than a religious one.

why would you turn down an opportunity to have a party with good food?

even things as "base" as eating, have a holy aspect to them, and treated with the right manner, intent, and mindfulness, its a very good thing, religiously and spiritually as well as physically and sensually.
