You should be using a pin brush to groom a yorkie's coat. Most brushes made for people aren't going to get through to the skin and you'll end up with mats. Some of the others are just going to break off the hair. (By the way, the slicker is necessary, but it's only used to get mats out not to brush the whole dog.)

No, you can not do that. The human brushes are not design to work on any dogs. There are lots of brushes out there that are past off as pet combs or brushes, So make sure you go to a place that sell dog supplies.

sure, if there are no mats or tangles. but a slicker brush is better for getting mats out. and a 7" teflon coated metal comb is better than a human comb. the coating cuts the static, and will last forever. won't damage the hair either

yes you can.

Since a yorkie has a more hair like coat, it stands to reason this is a good idea. Let me suggest boar hair brushes by goodie. They will not pull or tangle and will sleek down the natural oils from the base of the folicle to the ends to give a more pristine look. Your yorkie will love that it doesn't pull her hair.

Remember to start at the ends of the hair, and work your way towards the folicle. It's easier to get out one tangle than bunch them all down together and pull it out.

That's the worst thing to do because I did with my dog and all at once she started sneezing because their's dust and bad bactria in our hair brushes. And the only way to get rid of it is to put the brushes under a hot sink then let it run for about one minute. And then pick up sit somewhere cold and warm then wait a hour then brush your hair.
