i take my dogs to a big field where all dogs seem to be let of the lead and they all just sniff each other and its great ,and i understand what you mean if i go to the park i keep the dogs on the lead so not to pester kids some are frightened of dogs and some parents don't even ask if your dog is freindly and get the kid to just go up to it mine are friendly but the parent doesn't know that.
what would happen if mine bit one after a parent had said go stroke the nice doggy.

Oh I totally agree with you. Me and my partner feel exactly the same, we are out in the middle of nowhere trying to do the right thing by training our working cocker spaniel and out of no-where, little johnny pops out with hysterical parents waving their arms and legs around like there is a lion on the loose!. We have managed to train our beautiful dog - only to attack the under fives! I'm not that keen on screaming, demanding and annoying little children so I avoid places they are likely to be - don't parents have the common sense to do the same with dogs - or do they think that they have blessed the world with their spawn we all owe them a favour. Good luck with your venture!

we run 4 wolfhound lurchers, and my wife suffers the blind ignorance of other dog walkers and their children... oh, dont worry love, my dogs nice and friendly.. yes, but our arent. 4 dogs is a pack... and ours were bred to chase down and kill their prey.
anyone who has lurchers will knw how placid they are, but something runs past them fast, and its all instinct...
we found the only way to allow our dogs to run was when the other local dogwalkers werent out, and the kids were at school.. and they we got the morons on their motorbikes... and Lech the alpha male didnt like it.. so he went to investigate..as they do.. i aactually felt sorry for the kid on the bike, lech was just lolloping alongside teh guy... lech was smiling... and the kid couldnt out accelerate our lurcher... now word has gotten around, and if they see my wife out with the dogs, they stop until shes gone...
and we are really lucky, we have a 28 acre wood at teh bottom of the street, it would be idyllic but for coventry airport, which is a mere half a mile away, and we are 30 seconds away from threshold...

In my experience, dogs are never completely under control.(however much you may disagree), and neither are kids. If you take the dogs off the lead, you are taking a risk. Is it worth it? I know they need a run, but parents have plenty of hassles as well, without feeling threatened by loose dogs.
I do feel some sympathy, but it is up to you to prevent your dogs causing injury.

Plenty of cities have fenced dog parks, where dogs can run off leash. Start a petition to your local council to establish one.
I agree that people shouldn't be letting their children run up to a strange dog, whether off leash or on.

If it is dog park-or where dogs are allowed, you should tell the parents to put thier kids on leashes as so not to disturb,or ierritate your doggy! ;)
No,but really,if its a place where dogs can be,then they should not make you put your dog on a lead-unless he is agressive or harrasing one of the children! They should come to the park knowing...... Theres going to be dogs!and most pet owners consider thier pet as thier "child".
As for your Q. No,im not intersted-and i dont think it will work! There are more parents then concerned pet owners!I think-just stand up for your pet and keep on walking!
Good luck- hope this helps

great idea contact your local council for advice
i think the hostility from parents comes from the fact that lots of dog owners dont clear up their dog mess and kids run through it etc etc
