There are people who will abuse any religion that's in power. If Wiccans were the majority in the U.S., for example, Wicca would be used to control the masses. Any religion can be used to heal or harm people; it just depends on who's wielding it. Quit being down on the monotheists; they have a place at the table, too.

Personally I think it would be best if people had the freedom to choose which ever path in life they wanted. I wouldn’t want a world wear everyone followed the same religion or everyone thought alike. I enjoy the diversity of life.
That being said, I do agree with Kallan and Squishy. When my ancestors practiced their religion, women did have a lot more rights than they did when Christianity conquered the land. Virtues like honor, truth, discipline, and yes hospitality to strangers were musts. And as romantic as all that sounds, there still was a lot of war and bloodshed. It’s not necessarily the religion, but the people themselves, the time and the culture.
To often when people think of Paganism, they picture fuffy bunny Pagans, who are all about peace and love and mixing different cultures and pantheons with no consideration about how the Gods of those cultures wanted to be worshiped. Many of us do strive to reconstruct our ancestors religions and it does take a lot of dedication and hard work.

You're probably thinking of those hippie wiccans. There are pagan religions that used to be very blood thirsty, like vikings for example.
Take ancient romans - they waged war over the entire europe, defeating nations, killing people and taking them into slavery.
And they were certainly pagan.
Look at the ancient greece - the Athens state and the Sparta shared the same pagan belief, yet they were still constantly in war with one another.
It's not the religion itself, even though it gets abused to control masses. It's the greed of the people that's the cause of all hatred.

for the ignorant "occult" simply means that which is hidden.
When my ancestors were practicing paganism, women were considered equals, hospitality was considered a MUST (if a King wasn't hospitable, he'd lose his right to rule), and it was a much more peaceful world for them in that respect.
I'd love to think that we could all have that. But, even when paganism was the norm, human beings still slaughtered one another. It isn't so much the religion, as it is the human condition.

Well lets see most pagan societies were stone age because they thought some god or another was responsible for every thing they built little sacrificed their children and killed all other tribes. Looking at real facts does not help your case. Under Christianity we have all the marvelous things in the world like that magic box you are drumming your fingers before. Under Christianity we have many free nations in the world where the citizens have civil rights. No such thing ever occurred in a pagan society. The closest was pantheistic Greece and Rome, but most of them did not really believe in their gods.

Probably not. a lot of Pagan's forget we are not blameless for violence.
The problem with Occult paths is that once you look beyond simple Wicca, or other "Main-stream," mystical faiths, you'll find that not everyone has the brain power and dedication to follow them.

If everyone were the same religion, pagan or other, then things would be better for about five minutes then we would split into different factions and things would be back to normal.

The history of humanity suggests not. No matter what religion, or none, the results tend to be depressingly similar.
