I love cruising, it is such a great way to travel, so much fun, and now it is so great for the whole family.

There are a ton of options out there and what will be best for you kind of depends on your family, what you like to do, how much you want to spend, etc. So, my answer is going to be more of a general response than specific to just you.

The first line that is popular for families is Carnival. Personally, this would not be my first choice, it is an okay cruise line, but far from my favorite. I feel that the food, cleanliness, service, etc. all could use a lot of improvement and I've especially noticed a decline in the past several years. However, it is the least expensive line. So, if you are on a tight budget, it is still a great way to experience cruising, for a lot less than some of the higher end lines. The main reason I wouldn't want to take kids on Carnival is because of all the drinking and partying that goes on. It is often referred to as a spring break atmosphere, Carnival has worked a lot to change this recently, but there still is a lot of partying onboard. They do offer kids clubs and for the most part, kids really enjoy them. Just be sure to look at some reviews before booking and if you can, try to get on the newer ships, they generally offer a lot more for onboard activities.

My choice would be Royal Caribbean. They have great ships and really great kids clubs. It is a huge step up from Carnival, though it is a little more "formal" onboard and not quite as laid back like Carnival. So, if you are wanting a completely laid back environment, Carnival would probably be the better chioce. Royal Caribbean has some really great ships, Freedom of the Seas is really amazing and a ton of fun for the whole family. Price wise, they usually run a little more than Carnival, sometimes the same, and in a few cases a little less. Again, if you can go for a newer ship and if possible, I highly recommend Freedom of the Seas.

My personal pick for a cruise line that is great for the whole family is Disney. The kids clubs are amazing, in my experience cruising with kids, Disney has beat every other line. The shows, food, service, entertainment, everything is spectacular and has a little extra magic that is fun for the kids and the kids at heart. Disney always goes a step above the rest to make sure everything is perfect for the whole family. They have done a great job of having areas for both the whole family as well as areas for adults and kids only. As far as the kids, I think Disney has the most to offer them. I also feel that Disney is a goes a little further making sure everything in the kids areas are perfect. Most kids never want to leave and Disney makes sure the kids will be especially safe by paying extra close attention to dietary needs, making sure no kids are in the clubs that are sick, only allowing the same person to check the child out that checked them in and also providing the parents with a pager in case they need to be reached. Most kids never want to leave the kids clubs, and there are so many activities, they really don't need to. If for some reason Disney would need to get a hold of you because your child wanted to leave or wasn't feeling well, the pager allows them to contact you anywhere. Some lines just ask you where you plan to be and then try to find you there if needed, which can be a bit of a problem if you leave.

Most cruise lines offer something for kids, but some of them are a little better at providing equal entertainment for both the adults and the children. Princess, NCL, Celebrity, etc. may be something to look into, these are a few others that fall in my favorites category, but I'm not sure they will offer as much for kids as Disney, Carnival and Royal Caribbean.

So, my picks for the best cruise for the whole family is Disney, hands down, with Royal Caribbean being my second choice.

I've included a link that has some info on cruising with families that may help with your planning.

Good luck with your planning!

I would have to say carnivel because it's the only cruise i have ever been on, but i had a blast. I didn't take the kids, but i think they would have had a good time too. We will definatly be going back.

Most of my clients love Carnival. I have great deals on the sensation to the Bahamas so thats probably why that ship is the most popular.

i think celebrithy cruise lines might be good for you... but i know i will never go on a cruise in my life because .. ya know... all those stories about how people died and got kidnapped... so if i were u i wouldnt go on a cruise especially with KIDS... who knows what might happen to them .. even if u let them out of ur sight for just ONE second.
