An illiterate young peasant girl takes command of the armies of the entire French nation and undoes decades of English military dominance in little over a year? Sounds like a miracle to me.

Hmm. Well, she heard voices speaking to her, and these days they would diagnose her with schizophrenia and she'd be on phenothiazines for the rest of her life. She was certainly brave, and felt she was doing the right things, but then again, so did Hitler. She held onto her beliefs until the very end, which can be interpreted as having great faith. I don't know of any miracles, aside from being able to rally a lot of disheartened and antagonistic people under a single cause, and nearly defeating the British. Making any group of Frenchmen agree to anything is miraculous in itself. I would guess she could be a model of determination in the face of overwhelming odds. Not too bad, that.

I think it's oftentimes the saint that first brought Christianity into that country, like St. Patrick did Ireland.

You're going to choose a saint over God? why would you do that? when you ask "saints" to talk to God for you, you're praying to false Idols. Did you know that the visions that Joan of Arc saw had nothing to do with Jesus? Jesus said that people will have visions, but you will know which ones are real by who they glorify. Did you also know that the catholic church over glorifies the word "saint"? in the first, second, and third century, christians all over were called saints. It wasn't until sects started popping up and people started taking control of the church instead of leaving things up to God that there were special terms required to make you a saint. Do you think God likes that, we humans are glorifying ourselves, making ourselves into small Gods? Don't you think he is up there weeping at our distortment of the scriptures? Why would God want us to model ourselves after someone who went into war? Joans loyalty was to France, and she was ready to kill the british, in "the name of the Lord". Didn't jesus tell us, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." (Matt 5:9)
and didn't Paul tell us, (Romans 12:18) "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."

So why do we always want to emulate Joan of arc, is it for her fighting abilities, or her faith in spirits that didn't mention God? I wouldn't want to emulate either, as the Bible specifically tells us to stay away from both of those.

Pick St. Agatha. She is a real martyr who was raped by a man who destested Christians but she didn't renounce her faith. She was tortured and assaulted by many men and had her breasts cut off. Still, she professed her love in Christ never flinching or denying Jesus. She is the patron of rape victims and breast cancer patients.

Unless you are writing a paper for school don't waste your time...
a patron saint will do you about as much good as ice skates in the Gobi desert...Study the bible and learn of JESUS CHRIST...
This kind of wisdom holds promise in this life and the next.
~GOD BLESS YOU AND LEAD YOU INTO ALL TRUTH WHICH IS FOUND IN CHRIST THE LORD~
