when i see cars on the road with little children walking around on the back seats with no belts on.ive even seen them jumping around on the front seats.
are these childrens parents crazy or what?
there is no excuse for it all.a childs safety is paramount, and if [god forbid] a child is killed because of not wearing a seatbelt, the driver should be charged with murder.
what are your veiws on this?

Apart from the obvious legalities, the more I see of life the more I believe that people should apply for a licence to have children, like one does for a car, but they go for parenting lessons and have to prove themselves competent to bring them up.
It scares the life out of me when I see young mums pushing pushchairs into the paths of on coming cars to cross the road.
Or pushing prams and ignoring little tots who run along behind trying to keep up, who are quite likely to run into the road.
Or sitting young ones in the front seat of cars which have Crash balloons in them, they would snap a child's neck if they went off.
I could slap them hard for their sheer stupidity!!!

Actually, it's a traffic violation for ANYONE in the car to not wear a seatbelt. In this state, if a child is killed because they were not wearing a seatbelt, the person driving will charged with negligible homicide, because it was a preventable death. I would NEVER dream of having my son without a seatbelt. I always ask people that argue my point, "wouldn't you buckle a baby in an infant seat?" And of course they would because the baby would be seriously injured or killed if they weren't. So what's the difference with an older child?

Both my children have booster seats and the cars not even started until they have there seat belts on
theres no way i'd let thm sit in the back without there belts on
it bugs me when you see children jumping around in the back of the car while its still moving
and yes the adults should take the blame if a child was to get hurt

Some parents are just too lazy to enforce rule - no matter what the consequences! My sister allowed this to happen, because the kids would take the seat belts off once they started driving. She did not do anything about it because she did not want to argue. Now they are grown and walk all over her - but she is lucky they are even alive.
Last night I saw something ridiculous. There was a car going really slow in the passing lane on the high way - I was getting really annoyed! I decided to finally get in the normal lane to pass her - and glanced over - she was breastfeeding her child while driving! It was not restrained or anything, just loosely in her arms. Talk about DANGEROUS. How hard is it to pull over?

There was an ad a year or two back that showed little Johnny unsecured in the back seat being hurled forwards in a front-end collision and killing his Mum. The ad was withdrawn as "offensive". Yes the parents should be charged with manslaughter (not murder as there is no intent), however it is possible for a frontseat occupant to die too (as above) which maybe punishment enough. I've even seen loose dogs in cars.

I entirely agree with you except for the murder part that's a little extream but ya it is very important that a child is safe in a vehcle. If the (God forbid) a child get's killed what are the parents going to do. They are really out of their mind to let their child jump aound on the front seats that's just crazy!!!
Anyways they should be punished for it but not as severe as being charged with murder although it would teach other parents not leave their child in a car without their seat belt on it is a little extreme.

I think charging someone for murder is a bit extreme and I am a hardliner on crime!. Especially when you have groups of teenagers shooting and stabbing people to death and getting a couple of years. The parents that really wind me up are the ones that put their kids on the back of pushbikes - imagine if the parent fell or got knocked off - that poor child is so helpless and could get driven over - what possesses these parents to do such a thing - all in the name of looking green and trying to save the planet. At least kids have some sort of protection in a car and they should now legally have seatbelts on.

It drives me mad too - also people who are holding a mobile to their ear while talking. Not fair to put other people in danger!
My Dad wouldn't even start the car unless we had our seatbelts on right from when we were old enough to be able to do them up ourselves.
If you took the number plate and reported it to the police would anything happen? Why don't they start a national campaign or something? Hmm - I feel a letter to my MP coming on. Just got to find out who it is...

I agree. Everyone should wear a seatbelt at all times. But, in my own experiences kids will unbuckle their seatbelts when they feel tight in their seats. Then they pretty much get out of their seats and jump around. But, the parents are driving...they can't really handle the situation as well as they would like to. But, I agree that they should have seatbelts on.
