It depends on who owns the mail boxes. I have lived at 2 places that had sets of mail boxes that look just like all the others that say USPS on them, but when I needed a replacement key I found out from USPS that they were owned and maintained by the apartment complex.

Call the USPS at 800-275-8777. Tell them you need a new key for your mail box and ask them if they own the mailbox. You will need a signed copy of your rental agreement and photo i.d. If they have more than one key there they will give you the key (and most charge a fee of up to $5). If they have only one key they will tell you to come back in a day or two as they will need to make a copy.

If the apartment complex/property owner owns the mail box then you will need to obtain the key from them.

i could flow with Travelmasters suggestion....Take BART rail to El Cerrito Del Norte Station, then the Fairfield Transit equipment (quickly) will take you to Sacramento with one exchange of buses in Fairfield from the #ninety to the #30. Then as quickly as in Sacramento Elk Grove Transit has accepted provider to Elk Grove. entire one way fee utilising transit under $10. you're able to be able to desire to combine Amtrak into this holiday in spite of the undeniable fact that it may fee extra and not save lots time. reliable good fortune!

you need the box number/address and proof you are the addressee, this need to be taken care of at the local US post Office-that handles your route/zipcode. There may be a fee for new keys..
