the tattoo is not completely healed yet and it is likely to have formed a thinner scab over the tattoo. i wouldn't worry. my foot did this and now it looks great. just keep putting stuff on it to keep it moisturised and it'll be fine.

Right away I think that you may be using too much ointment. If so lay off a little. Wash it well with mild soap, pat dry, wait a few minutes, and apply a very thin film of ointment, or lotion on it.. The new tat is a big wound, and wounds need to breathe. You haven't been covering it with bandages have you. If so, that is a major no no. Good luck.

Its normal, your skin is upset by the tattoo, healing times vary from person to person but you should be in good shape about 4-6 weeks from when you got the tattoo done...congrats on the new ink!!!!

Yes it is normal. The tattoo has traumatized your skin and underlying tissue. With a short amount of time, it will look how it should. TOTAL healing time is actually about 6 weeks.

It's still healing, it's just part of the process. Make sure it's clean and dry and if you want put a thin layer of triple antibiotic ointment over it for added protection and moisture. That's what I always do.
