I'll have to agree with 'Lady Luck' on this one. I put an ad on Craigslist looking for an advanced amature or student looking for the experience of shooting a wedding and wanting to build their wedding portfolio. After receiving several viable responses, we found one we loved. She offered to do engagement photos just so we could test her out. She did a wonderful job and was easy to work with so we did use her for the wedding. She also did my bridals. She mainly just charged us enough to cover her traveling costs and such. We got a wonderful deal and she did a beautiful job. She shot everything using digital SLR and sent us CDs with everything on them. She even did touch ups and effects on some of ours. With the CDs, we can print them as we need them.

You might want to look at various wedding sites because people have reviews of folks they used and usually a listing of people in different areas. But really be careful with just going for cheap--you get what you pay for and you can't replicate your wedding day memories if the photos suck.

You could try finding someone at the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) and hire a student photographer.

I cannot tell you your answer but I want to tell you this. I went with a cheap one we paid $400.00 plus proofs and we now have no professional pics. They did not turn out good, very yellow and we don't like them. I just want to tell you that even if it is hard to afford go with a better one. I would hate for someone else to go thru what I did and have nothing. It really sucks, those are memories you want to keep.

I suggest going on Craig's list and hiring a phtography student, who will be willing to do it for a fraction of professional photography costs.
