pere is usually translated as "father"
the diminutive form "daddy" is better translated as "papa"
so daddy (in English) = papa (in French)

dad is pere. like if you were to say, my dad, you would say mon pere; pronounced like the word "pair" with the french accent on the R. alot of french people use the words papa when they're talking to their father.
