will it save me that much more money to have it replicated by a jewler or should i buy the real deal?

to those that have had a jewler make your engagement ring, how were your experiences? were you happy with the work and did it come close to what you had expected?

the setting she choose had a retail price of about $4000 but the jewler said he can have it replicated for about $2000-$2500

It could be more personal to have the ring made for her but I would do something to distinguish it from the replica just a bit so she knows it was made for her.

My engagement ring is a custom made piece. It is 100% original, there's not a single one anywhere like it. I absolutely LOVE it and am thrilled that my fiance cared that much about what I'd want and was willing to invest a lot of time and research into my ring.

However, it isn't a replication like what you mentioned. Has your fiancee already seen the setting? If you like the setting, go with something close to it. If it's custom made you can perk it up and make it a truly unique piece, not a cookie cutter ring that 20 other women have on their fingers.

Make sure you have a reputable jeweler do the work though. You wouldn't want to spend a lot of money for shoddy craftsmanship and poor quality.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with shopping around and getting a better price for an engagement ring! However if by 'the real thing' you mean a diamond as opposed to a CZ.. eww.. that would be SO tacky to let her think she's getting the real thing and substituting a fake diamond!

Just make sure that the person who is making the ring does quality work!

i recently found a ring i loved on the internet, $4000.00. took photo to jeweller who made one very similar for half the price. i say similar because i didn't want an exact duplicate of someone elses so i asked for an extra wide band! we used same karat gold, same stones. but this was a small jewellery shop that was willing to work on a smaller profit margin!
they did a beautiful job and i was thrilled with the ring!

My ring was custom made... It is perfect! I love it and knowing that no one else has a ring like mine is awesome...
PLease do not get a replicate of a ring...buy the real thing...even if its a solataire and then a custom wedding band for the ceremony...You can do it and stay on a budget!

I think u should buy the real thing. When a girl gets the engagement ring that is the most thing there proud of. They like to show it off. Trust me i know all about it i just got engage this past Dec. Plus I like to get my girl the best i can give her. you really don't have to give her a mllion dollar ring, ifshe really loves you she will like anythng you give her aslong its pertty and real
the one i got cost about $500.00 and she love it.

For starters, that's a heck of a lot for an engagement ring - the average price guys spend is just under 1K. For us, I just chose the "style" I liked, and my husband went shopping - at his budget - for something similar to that style. Perhaps that's an idea for you. It's really special when the guy picks it out....

You get what you pay for. If the diamond is the same cut, color, and clarity and you are saving the "name" that is one thing but, I would do my research and homework before giving any money to anyone.

Why wouldn't you just buy the one you want if you already found it somewhere rather than having the identical thing made?

you should definately buy the real thing. if your fiancee ever found out you paid half the price for a replica she would be very mad, at least I would be.
