Because most of the IRS resources this time of year are dedicated to processing tax returns from taxpayers with few if any issues. You're not the only person with an ISA issue and it takes time to run the coordination with FMS and determine how much of the refund you are entitled to.

Alot of reasons, this is their busiest time of year. Also, they have to make sure that there is nothing that you have outstanding, such as student loans and child support due that your return should go to first. It's hard, but that is just the way it is. I see the glass as half full, because I have had friends before the injured spouse law was enacted that had no recourse when their ex or current spouses past debt took everything. I guess I think 8 weeks is better than never getting anything, which is the way it used to be. Good Luck, and usually, it will be quicker than 8 weeks I think. I mean, is the system going to keep saying "working on" until you get it in the mail (or direct deposited) or is it eventually going to say "has been mailed"? That's what I would be asking them.

It takes 30 to 40 minutes for the account of one person to get off the desk of an employee at the IRS. THEN IT GOES TO THE DESK OF ANOTHER, and so on, and so on, and so on.

No there is no one person that takes care of all of the requirements of everyone. Once an account is put in an office, an agent handles the file and sends it to the next office.

Just be glad that the information does not get loss in the IRS, there are over 100 Million Americans trying to get their money from the IRS right now. Most of us will be successfull, it will only take 6 - 8 weeks. There are those that want to do creative bookkeeping, they either take longer or get called back later (audited). Help us out put in a fair and honest claim.

They have to review the Injured Spouse Claim then submit the return for processing with the approved Injured Spouse Claim form. The ISC has to be processed by hand

it takes them a while to hook up the secret spy cams in your home..ie: bathroom, bed room garage.. so they can see if he is really injured,,watching your habits in the home is the best way to determine if he is faking..
Now that the home land security can legally to this the IRS has fully implementing spy cams..I suggest you find them and put some vasaline over the lenses, especially in the bathroom.
