I don't know why Frito Lay stopped making their original taco flavored doritos?? I remember them very well and I miss them very much!! My problem was once I started eating the Taco flavored Doritos,I couldn't stop, not kidding! I don't know if anyone else noticed this or not,but last year the Frito Lay company REALLY CHEAPENED their Nacho Cheese Doritos to a new and improved,"Nacho Cheesier,"and NOBODY was buying them, because the chips tasted just like that really cheap powdered cheese packet that comes from store brand macaroni and cheese dinners, ewwww!!
Frito Lay found out that consumers weren't stupid and when our grocery store had display after display of the,"Nacho Cheesier,"Doritos and they couldn't sell them at even $.50 cents a bag,for a big bag,Frito Lay FINALLY got the hint and went back to the origional Nacho Cheese flavor! I just can't understand WHY Candy companies,Pop Companies,Potato Chip companies,Cookie companies, etc cannot grasp the concept of,"If it ain't broke don't fix it!!" I cannot begin to tell you how many different products over the years I have quit buying because the conpanies are changing their formulas on their products, making the products a smaller size, and still charging a fortune for their product!!
The Campbell Soup company is a current example of the companies thinking that consumers are stupid! They used to make their,"Campbell's Chunky Soups,"in a very large and very satisfying 20 ounce cans just over five years ago,and now they have reduced the size down to 18.8 ounces and the cost is almost $4.00 a can,and the old price used to be $1.58 or cheaper, see what I mean?? :-( *SIGHS WITH FRUSTRATION*

the flavoring was pulled for being "unsuitable for human consumption". It was found to contain chemicals and flavorings not approved by the FDA, and contain flavorings from countries not approved to do business with the usa-something about the pesticides used in the other countries. I read about this and other flavoring agents that were pulled during the 80's in an article I read in the late 80's. Sorry I can't quote you a source, but thats a bit too far back for this tired ol brain to remember. Sadly, although the FDA now approved many of these flavoring, most of our foods contain artificial and chemical compounds that should NOT be suitable for human consumption.
