I know I believe in god but I cant find a religon where i feel that god is truly in it always seems that religon is about the people and what people are doing wrong.and not the grace and blessings of god. I always feel down trodden when i go to church. I was born and raised LDS but have never felt good about the church. any suggestions?

I would put your faith in Jesus Christ the Lord and Savior. He is the only way to heavan. Getting to heaven is not done by deeds but by the eternal gift we were given. John 3: 16, For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
But think upon this, your sin was paid for at the cross, Jesus hung there for us because we fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God
Dont make up a religon. Who else will follow it? Pray and your life will be changed forever. It was for me.
I hope I helped you

Candice,

It sounds like you are in search of a community of believers who incorporate God into their religion by living their lives in a "Christ-like" manner. The best way to find this is to visit different churches and see how the people are.

I was LDS too and I'm now atheist but I can relate to missing the community feeling of goodwill and brotherly love. 20 years ago the LDS church did this much better than they do now.

Find a Church that believes in the Salvation given in Acts 2:38, and in the evidence of speaking in an unknown language as evidence of thr Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is the dispenser of the God's Love which isthe greatest Love known to man!! Get the Holy Ghost and let God's Love flow through you and your life will be enriched!!

retain your independence. believe what works for you, for what works for you is what you need to believe. religion is all about control; don't let ANYONE tell you what to believe.
As far as a religious community is concerned, find a liberal church where there is diversity and acceptance...only then will you be able to sample different things without people trying to make you feel bad, as though you are being unfaithful to God. You cannot ever be faithful to God if you are not true to yourself. God knows you are only human and God is more concerned with your heart condition and how well you receive God's love for you than what you give intellectual assent to. Faith is a matter of the heart...religion tries to make it a matter of the mind and that is a problem.

On a subject like this it's always best to research and use logic people mentioned religion is a way to control you but your only controlled when you are doing something and don't know why. I am a Jehovah's Witness our goal is not to convert people but to get them familiar with THEIR bible so they can see the answers for themselves not go off what people tell you remember it's your life no one else's.

you know what you don't want in a religion. that's a start. what i did was basically just check into everything, eastern, western, whatever until i found one that worked for me.

you should know though, that all religious communities have problems with hypocrasy and judging others. if you love your faith, your holy book, etc. but have a problem with the people only, i would suggest finding another church

whatever you do, don't settle! - spirituality is too personal and too important for you to just accept that what other people believe should work for you because it works for them.

good luck!

You need to buy "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins.

Educate yourself, and get rid of this 'god' belief you are clinging to.

You have spotted the problems with religion, but instead of tossing it out you are searching for another one.

Let me save you some time... all religions are basically the same, they tell you to believe x,y,and,z but give you nothing to base your belief on but "blind faith" and that's not very inspiring.

Think about all the Greek gods you reject, Zeus, Apollo, ect. Those gods are just as fake as the one you believe in. Once you realize this, you will have the "experience" religion promised you but CAN NEVER DELIVER.

Another person can't give you a "cure-all" answer, but I recently re-discovered a website that is usually very accurate on what beliefs you match up most with. It's not biased just towards one religion-- all major beliefs are included. If you'd like to give it a whirl just to see (and then, perhaps, research what your top find is), here's the address: http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.html

Try going to different Christian churches. They all have different ways to worship and serve God so you should be able to find one suitable for you. God Bless
