it is somewhat annoying that people don't look at questions already asked. but oh well... more points for us for answering i guess. some people's questions are valid like "where would this tattoo look best?" and actually sometimes we probably talk people out of getting bad tattoos which makes me feel good. i just try to keep giving good advice even tho i have said it all before.

I am so sick of these questions too! The ones that are the most ridiculous are people that give an insanely vague description of what they want and ask how much it will cost. Seriously I don't understand why they don't just look up things like age you have to be to get a tattoo. I would never ask strangers what I should get permanently marked on my body-that's just silly.

Certainly the really common questions (how much it hurts, etc), googling an answer or searching FAQs seems like a better use of resources - theirs and ours. Perhaps YA has a mechanism for the equivalent of sticky answers/FAQs, I'm not sure.

And the "how to do I fit in by getting a ..." question, although perhaps common, I can completely see the regulars rolling their eyes at.

On the other hand, there are real questions, like locations that work best for a given design, color mixes, sizes and so on for which a person needs to hear other people talk on. They tend to fall between opinion and artistic perspective catgories, but I'm not sure if the back & forth needed for that is well suited to YA. If nothing else, there's a risk that a question like that will be buried by "the bible says..." or "I hope you die of..." responses.

I am not against asking for advice. However, a tattoo is a life decision. You need to be sure that YOU are comfortable with whatever you put on your body. I am open for input on how to finish my current tat in progress. I have a good idea of how it's gonna end up, but opinions are great, sometimes. This category is full of artists and enthusiasts. And a few haters, the haters can kiss my a.ss. But the artist are what makes getting a tattoo either awesome, or really really bad.

I agree with you. I think that if someone is going to get a tattoo, they should think about it in private because its something you will have forever. Everybody is different and everyone has different tastes.

yes omg. tattoos are a very personal and permanent thing, why are they asking us what to get? would you tattoo whatever a stranger you don't know told you to over the internet?

Yes I agree. I never asked any strangers for input on my tattoos.
