before I get all the irresponsible/bad owner comments, we want her to have kittens and want the kittens!! She has now gone missing for last 48 hours and I am very worried, she has never gone before. Presuming she has mated, is this disappearance normal??? And if so when can we expect her back? She is one year old.

Put some food and something that she loves to play with or sleep on outside. Most cats will take advantage of their freedom when they get it. She'll more than likely come back within the next couple of days.

When I've had missing cats, I walk around the neighborhood calling them. Also talk to your neighbors, someone else may have seen her or be feeding her. Put missing signs up, with her picture if you have one. Also check your local shelters and animal control. And check the newspaper for lost & found. You could put an ad in for lost cat. I have a feeling she'll come home, but the more you do, the better the chances. Good luck! Let me know how it goes. You can email me at: lstewart02@comcast.net

I have been living with cats all my life. From what i noticed, only male cats leave home a week or so when they are in heat. Female cats would still be home to feed coz they get really hungry. In general cats can go missing on several occasion, they are in heat (male), they are hurt and stuck somewhere unable to come home, they are dying, they were kidnapped. It is possible that your cat are too busy in heat with her loved one. Nonetheless do put up missing cat signs in your neighbourhood.

cats usually stay in heat for 4-7 days but in that time can go many miles from home. should come out of heat within 48 hours from impregnated.

If she has not been hit by a car or eaten by a dog, then she'll be home someday... Hope she does not have too many kitten for you to keep, and hopefully you will stop at one litter.

Chances are, because you thought your cat was sooooo super extra special that she had to have kittens, she might be dead now. I hope this is not the case. Good luck.

If she did not have something that identified her as yours then start looking for her. Call your local police station and they can give you the number of the animal rescues and make sure your cat is not there. Make sure you neighbors know you have a missing cat.

You should have had her spayed. If you want more cats you should pull some from death row at the shelter.
