money is the root of all kinds of evil...as an example of a common thing people love and trust in more than God. That's what the writer was driving home. He wasn't saying money is evil, just a love of it that is more than love for God.

I'm not so sure that money is the root of all evil as much as it enables one to get into things that he/she otherwise wouldn't be able to afford.
look at some of our so called celebrities and you will see what I mean.
It was their money that enabled them to get into those things.
