If you want Jeff Gordon left alone, you should not have asked the question. Personally, I think he looks like a Ken Doll and he has a little string in the back of his neck that when someone pulls it he says anything Nascar wants him to say.

Most people don't like my guy either (#20) but I don't care...If they say he can't drive, they are lying so they don't matter. Anything else they say does not matter either. Watching him drive makes my heart sing. THAT matters.

Gordon is a really talented driver and so it shouldn't matter to you that people like me don't like him. How you feel about him is all that matters.

GO TONY!!!!

I heard an interesting statistic last week. Jeff Gordon has been racing now for I think 15 seasons. And he has had a Bud Pole for 14 consecutive seasons.

That kind of consistent high performance coupled with the fact that he didn't really represent the 'typical' NASCAR fan of the days when he first started... those are the two reasons I think a lot of people have come to 'hate' him. The truth is, it takes 'something' for people to hate a person. In Jeff's case it was probably jealousy over his quick results and disgust over the fact that someone who wasn't a "good ole' boy" could race as good as he could.

I am still not a Jeff Gordon fan, but after seeing him shake the cobwebs from his head after a hard hit at Texas a half-dozen years ago, I resolved not to boo him anymore. Nobody who is willing to put his life on the line in that way for our entertainment and a chance at financial rewards deserves to be boo'd.

Take a look at the rough and tumble look of drivers like Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr. and you'll understand the difference between Gordon fans and Gordon haters. I don't think I've ever seen Jeff Gordon with five o'clock shadow or his hair messed up. And that irks some people.

First, he didn't really fit the bill of the typical Nascar driver when he entered the Winston Cup series in 1993. In 1994 he captured a big win, with the inaugural Brickyard 400.

In 1995 he won a good number of races and became a threat to Dale Earnhardt's 8 championship. Earnhardt fans biggest nightmare became reality, when Gordon won the championship that year. Earnhardt had many fans, thus Gordon just earned himself many haters.

He continued to win races at an amazing rate, along with two more championships, 1997 and 1998. Hendrick MS, via Jeff Gordon, was probably the sole reason Dale Earnhardt never got that eighth chanpionship.

To sum up the answer to your question, Jeff Gordon won too much and it was at the expense of Dale Earnhardt.

1. He doesnt fit the typical mold of what a Nascar should be. When he first came into the series he was from up North, looked like he belonged in a magazine, and was the media darling. That pretty much upset the native Nascar fans, and he had more talent than most of the field.
2. His lifestle is always under scrutiny. Again first came into the series, everyone questioned his sexuality, his rainbow warrior car. Enough said on that one.
3. He beat the southern boys at their own game, Gordon came into this series and beat everyone at their own game. Add into the mix that he drives like Dale Sr. and it pretty much pisses people off.

Gordon upset people when he first came into the series because of what he is, not because of his driving or anything else. He did open the door for other so called pretty boys, and northern boys to enter into the series however.

I agree that he is possibly one of the best to drive but as far as what fans say: I think it's not Jeff Gordon that they hate, it's a lot of his fans that really get people ticked off! They are the first ones to bust on other drivers when they have misfortunes and the first to blame others when Jeff has a incident on the track! Just my opinion!
Of course I'm a Tony Stewart fan and I feel he's one of the best ever to drive any race car!

I'm a huge Jeff Gordon fan. The reason people hate him is because this guy came out of nowhere to take some of the spotlight from Dale Earnhardt. He is now in the favorites to win everytime and everyone hates drivers who are way more talented than the rest of the field. Now though, it seems there are more drivers that can challenge him. However, I know Gordon was in a rivalry with Dale and I like both drivers with a passion. Fans hate him because he is good. You people should hate people like Dale Jr. What has he done for you guys? Get in the Top 5? OVER-RATED! I like the kid, but I hate the fact that he is the most loved driver. It is obviously because of his father, but c'mon. He's just not enough to compare to drivers like Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, and Mark Martin. Dale can still be up there, but he has to step it up a bit. Gordon definately deserves more respect. I love how half-way through my explanation I changed the topic hehe. But you get the picture.

Jeff Gordon has not been a good driver but Hendrick Motorsports stinks. Because he can't win he will wreck someone else, he can't control his car, he pushes people into the wall. Yes he has won some but thats because of his bad driving. His teammate Jimmie Johnson wrecks Jr last year because he is going to win the race, shows what type of team they are!!

I for one don't care for Gordon due to the fact that he was winning most of his races using an illegal chassis/frame. Was some type of light metal and Nascar didn't find out about it til like 2 years later I think.

Gordon's got Little Man Syndrome, so he's thinks he can whine and cry about anything that doesn't go his way. He bumps and pushes people around on the track and then makes excuses that it was everybody else's fault later. He's a spoiled little brat that needs to be taken down a bit, but the drivers who are capable of doing it don't want to make themselves look like Gordon to do it.

Because he doesn't show good sportsmen ship, he is a BIG CRY BABY, and he cheats, not to mention recently he did.
just because he won allot of races don't mean he is a good driver there is more to it to be one, not because you try to win them all. Which you can't win them all. And no matter what you say or do no body isn't going to leave him alone just like how people don't leave the others alone. Its part of Nascar fans game!
Can't take the heat from the game then get out! Simple as that.
